ALT for Living Heads West, to the LCDQ
ALT for Living, a boutique style interior design showroom that is popular among Manhattan’s top designers, has opened their third location, ALT LA, on La Cienega.
The showroom, which specializes in luxury handmade textiles, carpets, and home furnishings, already collaborates with West Coast designers, such as Waldo, Atelier AM, and Clements Design, to name a few.
Alt for Living Principal Analisse Taft-Gersten, originally from Los Angeles, is having a homecoming of sorts. “After living in New York City for over 20 years, I’m so excited to be a part of the amazing Los Angeles design community. It is going to be nice to come back home,” she says.
Like ALT for Living, ALT LA will focus on and cater to the interior design trade. Unlike the NYC locations, Taft has decided to open in conjunction with Remains Lighting to create another one-stop shop experience. Her philosophy is to never have just a single unit, but rather collaborate to create a dual business concept. Presented in a boutique-like atmosphere, ALT LA’s collection is curated with an “eye” on what designers are looking for.
ALT LA offers many of the same luxurious goods from handmade rugs, artisan textiles, to chic accessories that the NYC flagship showroom is known for. In addition to those familiar lines, the showroom will offer exclusive collections to LA that can only be found at ALT.
Remains, lighting, founded in 1996 by David Calligeros, is a maker of artisan made-to-order and custom lighting fixtures as well as beautifully restored vintage lighting. Remains designs and manufactures all of its fixtures from raw material to finished goods under one roof in its own Brooklyn, NY, facility and has several showrooms across the country, including on La Cienega in the LCDQ.
