The La Cienega Design Quarter is thrilled to welcome Julie Carlson of Remodelista, Jason Oliver Nixon of Madcap Cottage and Lisa Mende of Lisa Mende Design as 2014 Legends Ambassadors. Both Lisa and Jason will be joining us from the great state of North Carolina.

This is the second year of the LCDQ’s Legends Ambassadors program, which is designed to give a voice to the digital design community, including bloggers and social media tastemakers at Legends. This year we have nine Ambassadors travelling from around the country to attend and cover this year’s event.

Before we get their novel take on this year’s event, Novel Interiors: Storytelling by Design, let’s get to know this year’s Legends Ambassadors.

Julie Carlson founded Remodelista in 2007. Prior to founding Remodelista, Julie Carlson was a recognized print journalist who began her career at The New Yorker. She covered the home, design, restaurant, and lifestyle fields for various publications including San Francisco magazineCalifornia Home + DesignFood & Wine, and The Washington Post. Her strong point of view and discerning eye for timeless and accessible design have made Julie one of the most influential voices in design. Her first book, Remodelista: A Manual for the Considered Home, was published by Artisan Books in November of 2013 and was named one of Amazon’s Top 100 books of 2013.

Jason Oliver Nixon and his partner, John Loecke, are the dynamic duo behind New York- and North Carolina-based interior design firm Madcap Cottage. Known for their whimsical use of color and pattern, the Madcap gents scour the globe for eclectic finds that capture their unique and fantastical point of view. “Good design should put a smile on your face,” say the Madcap Cottage boys. “Let us help you make your home marvelous… Join the fun!” The Madcap Cottage bedding and window treatments line debuts on HSN in August 2014, and their vintage and antique products can be found on One Kings Lane and 1stDibs.

Lisa Mende designs soulful interiors: homes that feel entirely authentic to the families who inhabit them. With two decades of experience as principal of Lisa Mende Design, Lisa’s clients are drawn to her singular ability to infuse boldness and drama into a space that is anchored in classic, easy luxury. Her work has been featured in Traditional Home magazine. Lisa is a social media authority and the creator of a widely-acclaimed eponymous blog, named as a Modenus Top 100 Blog. In the role of design tastemaker, she has been named High Point Market Style Spotter, moderator for Design Tech Summit, and as a member of Brizo’s coveted blogger19 group.
