Jasper showroom founder Michael S. Smith is considered one of the most original and respected talents in the design industry today, with an international profile of residential, hospitality and commercial clients, including the Obamas quarters in the White House. Smith’s eponymous design firm was launched in 1990, expanding from projects solely for private clients to his Jasper line of fine furniture and fabrics sold exclusively in multi-line showrooms around the world.

Michael S. Smith used furniture from a number of LCDQ sources in the White House. Jonas made the upholstery and curtains for this room in the Obamas’ private quarters as well for the Oval Office.

A Mansour Tabriz-style carpet graces the floor of the screening room in a talent agent’s Beverly Hills mansion designed by Smith.

A Chicago penthouse family room designed by Smith features John Robshaw fabric (from LCDQ member Nicky Rising) on the walls, and a Jonas sectional upholstered in Jasper silk mohair.

A 1920s boathouse in Wisconsin designed by Smith features Rose Tarlow Melrose House fabric on the seat cushions.
