Marc Phillips Hosting Designer Rug Auction to Benefit P.S. Arts
In collaboration with Paddle8, Marc Phillips Decorative Rugs has launched an online auction of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition rugs to benefit P.S. Arts, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities.
Hand-woven in Nepal from wool and silk, there are 10 rugs in the auction that were designed by nine high-profile artists: RETNA, who designed 2 rugs for the auction, Kenny Scharf, Tracy Hiner, Alex K. Mason, Nathalie Douge, Shepard Fairey, Tanya Nolan, Melissa Flanagan, and Cole Sternberg.
“Innovation is definitely one of our hallmarks at Marc Phillips, so having the opportunity to work with a line-up of artists as tremendous as this to collaborate on some truly beautiful and unique rug designs has been remarkable,” says Marc Phillips founder Bobby Partial. “The fact that we can then give the proceeds from the sale of these rugs to P.S. Arts, a group working in schools to cultivate tomorrow’s artists and innovators, has made it that much more rewarding.”
The auction has already launched and will be open online until noon Pacific Time on May 19 at http://paddle8.com/auction/psarts/. Bidding will conclude during a silent auction at Marc Phillips’ Los Angeles showroom on Tuesday, May 19, from 7 to 10 pm.
