The La Cienega Design Quarter’s fifth annual LEGENDS event brought together the greatest talents from the worlds of interior design, decor, art, fashion and architecture for a 3-day celebration of design. Starting on May 8 with a magical Gala co-sponsored by 1stdibs and Coldwell Banker International Previews at Therien, more than 400 design cognoscenti raised a toast to the enduring appeal of LEGENDS in its celebration of decorative arts across the centuries.
On May 9 and 10, the nation’s top interior design talents and design authors addressed the theme of Legends 2013 – Time Capsule: The Past, Present and Future of Design, sharing their insights on various design and architecture-related topics during 30 Keynote discussions, panels, open houses and programs.
The LCDQ’s streets lit up thanks to the beautifully designed windows by prominent New York designers Thom Filicia, David Scott and Alex Papachristidis, with Florence de Dampierre from Connecticut, and local design powerhouses like Cliff Fong, Kelly Wearstler, Bravo’s “Million Dollar Decorator” Mary McDonald, Woodson and Rummerfield, Jeff Andrews, Sheldon Harte and Molly Luetkemeyer, with new kids on the block like home and garden TV personality Brian Patrick Flynn and FORM’s Rafael Kalichstein and Joshua Rose. Sandra Espinet’s two theatrical windows at Mehraban drove home the message about timeless design through the ages and into the future.
Although what is being billed as the preeminent design event of the year is over, #LEGENDS2013 still lives on in its very own Time Capsule of images:
