La Cienega Design Quarter 2013Baker Furniture, south window designed by Robert Brown for #LEGENDS2013.

Robert Brown designs a window for Baker Furniture that blends one-of-a-kind antique pieces with modern artwork for #LEGENDS2013.

From his firm in Atlanta, award-winning designer Robert Brown applies his sophisticated aesthetic to luxury projects across the nation. Brown juxtaposes classic details with contemporary silhouettes to create spaces that are at once captivating and timeless. His work regularly appears in premier magazines, including House Beautiful, Traditional Home, and Veranda. In 2010, Robert Brown launched a bench-made furniture collection which continues to grow and is available nationally.

A quote from the designer on his #LEGENDS2013 window design for Baker Furniture:

“I wanted to create a beautiful tension between the past, present, and future by blending exquisite antiques with sophisticated contemporary pieces. We flew in an oversize 19th Century painting of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette that feels smart and current paired with tailored furniture and other pieces of more modern artwork. It’s a combination that results in a well-integrated space that is absolutely timeless and utterly chic.”

Baker Furniture builds furniture from more periods, styles, and international influences than any other maker. One of the oldest furniture companies in the U.S., Baker Furniture was founded by Siebe Baker and Henry Cook, both from the Netherlands, in western Michigan in 1890. Pieces were commissioned from designers early on, starting with Gilbert Rohde in 1929, Scandinavian furniture wunderkind Finn Juhl in the 1950s, and Robsjohn-Gibbings in 1960. Baker currently carries furniture and/or lighting collections by Tony Duquette, André Arbus, Thomas Pheasant, Jacques Garcia, Michael S. Smith and Barbara Barry, among other noted international designers.
