La Cienega Design Quarter 2013

SOLI window designed by Steven Ehrlich for #LEGENDS2013.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, Steven Ehrlich pays homage to the architect of the past with his #LEGENDS2013 window design at SOLI Architectural Surfaces. “It’s an honor to honor Frank Lloyd Wright,” says Ehrlich, an award-winning architect.

Ehrlich designed SOLI’s window using SOLI’s Frank Lloyd Wright Collection of decorative concrete wall tiles. SOLI introduced the collection, licensed through the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, several months ago. SOLI’s hand cast concrete tiles, precise reproductions of Wright’s textile block walls, are made from recycled materials.

In more than 30 years of practicing architecture with his Culver City-based firm, Steven Ehrlich has evolved a signature global design philosophy called Multicultural Modernism, which seeks to create sustainable buildings that are infused with cultural meaning and rooted in the specificities of site. As Design Principal of his firm, Ehrlich has won eight National AIA Design Awards, was the 2011 California AIA Maybeck Award recipient, and lectures and teaches extensively in the U.S. and abroad.

SOLI Architectural Surfaces offers architects, interior designers, developers and contractors an exclusive collection of surfaces, crafted using the highest quality materials available. Combining old-world craftsmanship with pioneering technology, SOLI offers a various selection of tiles, mosaics, slabs, pavers and wood. Built on a principle of contrast, SOLI’s surfaces are contemporary yet classic, luxurious yet suitable for commercial or residential use. Many of the products can be custom designed for color, size, finish and thickness and may be delivered ready for a contractor to install.
