LEGENDS 2019, May 7-9
LCDQ Will Honor 2 Living Legends at Annual Design Fest in May
40 Design Stars Signed on to Create Window Vignettes
What becomes an icon most? Forty design stars from around the U.S. and the world are going to define that in their own way during the La Cienega Design Quarter’s annual highly acclaimed LEGENDS event, May 7 to 9. This year’s event is themed to Legendary: Icons of Design.
Not only will LEGENDS 2019 and its thousands of attendees celebrate the design stars of yesteryear but, for the first time, the LCDQ will honor 2 Living Legends. The LCDQ has named design superstars Bunny Williams of New York and Suzanne Rheinstein of Los Angeles as Living Legends, and each of them will have one-on-one interviews with national editors during LEGENDS 2019.
The most sought-after event on the national design calendar is set for May 7, 8 and 9, 2019. This year’s theme – Legendary: Icons of Design – is a revival of the very first LEGENDS theme in 2009, and 40 internationally renowned design stars are going to present their homages to legendary interior designers of the past.
True to tradition, participating interior designers will transform the windows of the 50 LCDQ shop and showroom windows to honor the Icons of Design, among them Albert Hadley, Rose Cumming, David Hicks, Elsie de Wolfe, Mark Hampton, Jean Michel Frank, Billy Baldwin, Dorothy Draper, Mario Buatta, and other luminaries.
After hosting kick-off parties in New York and Los Angeles, the LCDQ is excited to announce that 40 interior design stars from around the U.S. will create windows honoring icons of design from the past. Designers who will participate in the LEGENDS 2019 windows include New Yorkers Alex Papachristidis, Penny Drue Baird, Neal Beckstedt, Sasha Bikoff and Nicole Fuller, Emily Summers from Dallas, Tom Stringer from Chicago, and stand out Southern California designers, including Jeremiah Brent, and Brooke and Steve Giannetti.
The largest event of its kind supported by major corporate sponsors and a dozen media partners, LEGENDS brings thousands of influencers, enthusiasts, top design editors, and purveyors of design from across the U.S. and from around the world to the LCDQ for three days of keynotes, open houses, discussions, book signings, exhibitions, social events and networking.
New features are in store for LEGENDS 2019:
– There will be 3 full days of programming, kicking off with breakfast “Shop the Quarter” on Tuesday, May 7, with luxury transportation throughout the LCDQ. A Design Dash sponsored by Sotheby’s Home will make the experience all the more fun, followed by the highly sought after “Opening Celebration” that draws a legendary crowd to toast the LCDQ.
– Embracing Hollywood and the movie industry, the LCDQ will transform the VIP Lounge to a “The Legendary Green Room” outfitted by Pacific Sales where LEGENDS guests can refresh and recharge their electronic devices.
– Several area hotels are offering discounted room rates for LEGENDS 2019 attendees. Click here to make reservations.
