Hollyhock is hosting an RSVP-only cocktail reception and book signing for New York designer Markham Roberts, author of the newly published Decorating The Way I See It, on Thursday, October 30th, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

“He is supremely gifted, and the book is fabulous,” said Priscilla Wright, who manages Hollyhock, where Roberts has shopped for many years. “In the words of another LCDQ designer and showroom owner, ‘We die for his work,’” she added.

Roberts, who has a degree in the History of Art and Architecture from Brown University, began his career with legendary American decorator Mark Hampton, and went on to establish his own firm in 1997. With a reputation for bringing a fresh and modern approach to classical design, Roberts is known for his inventive combination of layered pattern and color and bold juxtaposition of fine furniture and works of art. His work, which has been described as “the very definition of chic,” has earned him a reputation as one of the top decorators of his generation, and he lectures on decorating across the country.

Decorating The Way I See It is illustrated with more than 350 photographs of homes across the country, including New York City apartments, small, historic estates on Long Island, seaside mansions in Florida, grand Southern and Midwestern homes, rustic ski retreats in Montana, and more. It provides a view into living environments that are shaped by where they are located, but with Roberts’ distinctive touch.

To attend the reception and book signing, an RSVP to RSVP@Hollyhockinc.com is necessary.
