Nathan Turner’s windows designed by Eric Hughes for #LEGENDS2013.

Eric Hughes may have grown up in Orange County, California, but his New York lifestyle played heavily in his elegant-with-a-touch-of-glam design for the #Legends2013 windows at Nathan Turner’s eponymous Melrose shop.

Hughes is an accidental designer. After years as a vice president of production at Universal Pictures he relocated to New York. Not quite sure of his next step, a close friend asked him to decorate her Bridgehampton house and though he was hesitant, he agreed. The project landed on the cover of Elle Decor and a new career was born. Living between Manhattan and Los Angeles, Hughes continues to work on both coasts and has cultivated an impressive roster of clients, such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Katie Couric, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Kate Winslet.

Nathan Turner’s eponymous showroom offers antiques, textiles and artwork from his travels around the world, along with his own line of upholstered furniture. An avid cook, Turner equipped his store with a full kitchen so that he could host intimate dinners and parties on site. Turner’s parties, products and designs have been featured in major national and regional publications including Domino, Vogue Living, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Food & Wine, and C Magazine.
