Barakat LCDQ

For the first time ever, the Barakat Gallery is staging a display of seven designers’ visions of living with antiques. Appropriately named “Living with Antiquities,” the showcase at Barakat is intended to inspire people to explore the incorporation of ancient art and artifacts in design today. The opening party for the showcase is Thursday, July 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Barakat Gallery on La Cienega.

The showcase consists of vignettes envisioned by seven notable designers, including Philip Nimmo, Kristine Paige Kamenstein of Jackson Paige Interiors and Joshua Rose and Rafi Kalichstein of FORM Design Studio. Given an empty space, the designers are tasked with reimagining and designing a living space using fine art and antiquities from the Barakat collections. The completed spaces include a lounge, bedroom, dressing room, dining room and foyer and feature a mix of ancient works and contemporary design elements.
