Brett Barrett Celebrates Past and Present at Gina Berschneider Showroom
Gina Berschneider showroom north window designed by Brett Barrett for #LEGENDS2013.
“This year’s theme was music to my ears,” says designer Brett Barrett, referring to the La Cienega Design Quarter’s theme for Legends 2013 — Time Capsule: The Past, Present and Future of Design.
For his #Legends2013 window at the Gina Berschneider showroom, Barrett “mixed pieces from the past and present with forward thinking works to create a space that has depth and provides comfort. No matter how modern the architecture, a blending of styles creates spaces with soul that draws you in.”
Barrett has always enjoyed being involved with the entire project from start to finish. Drawing floor plans came naturally to him from the early age of 12 years old. The world of interior design opened up to the designer when he first subscribed to Architectural Digest at 14. For many years now, Barrett has been engaged in building and remodeling projects as well as interior design and landscaping. His clients enjoy the interaction and convenience of the entire project overseen and designed by one person.
Gina Berschneider offers furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories, most of it designed by Gina and made by craftsmen in the Berschneiders’ Southern California workshop. The La Cienega showroom is beautifully layered with the designer’s latest classic larger-than-life upholstered pieces, hand-carved walnut and mahogany tables, modern iron tables and lighting, transitional lamps and mirrors, antique and vintage finds from all over the world, and art from Berschneider’s favorite artists. The showroom also features plush cashmere, vicuna and wool fabrics from the Loro Piana Interiors Collection, Gina Berschneider private label mohair, chenille and leather in shades especially chosen for Southern California palates, and fabrics from Schumacher, Décor de Paris and Highland Court.
