Studio LIFE/STYLE designers Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl.

Studio LIFE/STYLE is the talk of the town, with a slew of residential and commercial projects that bring major buzz—from Hilary Duff’s eclectic, feminine Beverly Hills home, to the mod boutique Sugar Paper and the open-air cocktail spot at The Grove, aptly named Fountain Bar. Founded in 2009 and celebrating a decade in business, Studio LIFE/STYLE designers Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl have been featured in People, House Beautiful, Domino and California Home + Design.

Studio LIFE/STYLE designed a villa at The Madison Club, a residential community in La Quinta, California that shows off their signature California-cool style.

Partners Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl, are strong designers in their own right, yet combine forces to dream up California-cool interiors that balance mid-century polish, lush textural moments and strategic hits of playful and elegant color. Wollack believes their partnership adds depth to their interiors, and it shows.

Always busy with new projects and collaborations—Wollack and Zwickl created the much-talked about window at Serena & Lily for the LCDQ’s Legends X event. Recently, the duo has been in the news. Domino pegged them in a story on reimagining children’s bedrooms for a custom nursery they designed with a dreamy white rug from LCDQ member Serena & Lily, and California Home + Design featured their recent project in Brentwood that used products from all around the LCDQ! With a major makeover, the home includes products from LCDQ shops and showrooms: rugs from Woven and Marc Phillips, outdoor furniture from Serena & Lily, custom Fromental wallpaper from Harbinger, and specialty paint from Farrow & Ball.

The designers were kind enough to take a moment to share their favorites up, down and around one of their favorite design shopping destinations, the La Cienega Design Quarter. With their signature style and wit, here’s where you can find them on any given day.

Our favorite places to shop around the LCDQ…

“Hollywood at Home because they have unique inventory. We love Woven for their new and antique rugs of all sizes. Serena & Lily is a go-to for great indoor-outdoor and accessories along with throws and pillows. And Harbinger for their huge selection of wallpaper and one-of -a-kind items.”

Best purchase ever was…

“A fantastic antique rug from Woven.”

Biggest design weakness and where we can always get our fix…

“Definitely wallpaper at Harbinger. They have hand-painted, silks, new brands, patterns, textures, younger emerging brands that are an innovative alternative to old, tired options.

The gorgeous tile at Tabarka Studio is on Studio LIFE/STYLE’s shopping list.

Currently on the HUNT for…

“Terracotta tiles for a project we are doing in Mexico. We are definitely going to stop by Tabarka Studio.”

Where I take clients (or ourselves) before/after shopping LCDQ…

“For lunch, we love The Cafe at the Mansur Gavriel store—it’s charming with great design and it’s near all of the great Melrose Place shopping.”

Having chic shops like Mansur Gavriel, Outdoor Voices and Glossier a short walk from the LCDQ makes a shopping spree and a bit of design inspiration easy.

For non-design browsing around the LCDQ…

“Isabel Marant, Frame, The Line, Glossier, Outdoor Voices. All of these are fun and youthful brands that are well designed, on trend, and most importantly very walk-able to each other.”

Where we like to have a post-LCDQ cocktail…

“A spicy margarita on the rocks at Cecconi’s or Zinqué.”

The designers love the spicy margaritas at Cecconi’s and recommend guests stay at the new La Peer Hotel, just a stone’s throw from the LCDQ.

Hotel we’d recommend to visitors…

“La Peer Hotel is brand new. The design is fantastic, and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. There’s also a great bar and restaurant inside.”

Wollack says LACMA and the Hollywood Bowl are L.A. classics not to be missed.

An inspiring place to see around LCDQ…

“LACMA and a night at the Hollywood Bowl—both are must-do L.A. classics.”
