Honoring historic legends of design and creative legends of today, this incredible three day event has quickly become a prominent fixture on the national design event calendar.
Legends 2010 was no exception; kicking off with an exclusive opening gala held by Elle Décor’s Editor in Chief, Margaret Russell*, the event went from strength to strength with amazing keynote events featuring world-class talents such as Robert Verdi, Mitch Owens, Mayer Rus, Catherine Malandrino, Kara Mann, Wanda Jelmini, Waldo Fernandez and Tony Duran, to name just a few. Complementing these talented line-ups were a number of other intimate occasions such as celebrity book signings, art exhibits and trunk shows. Saint-Germain again sponsored a fabulous VIP luncheon at Marge Carson and a sophisticated VIP lounge with STK L.A.
After the captivating daytime events were over guests, designers and celebrities all came together to relax and mingle at effervescent cocktail parties thrown by Jean de Merry, Lee Stanton and Pat McGann. As always the unique and defining feature of this incredible community event are the showroom windows. The ‘stars’ of the street, this year’s vignettes were a salute to Legends of television and set design. Some of the country’s brightest and most successful interior and set designers recreated their visions of iconic film and television productions from past and present; from Aunty Mame to Mad Men the window displays were lauded as an aesthetic tour de force of creativity and imagination. Our thanks goes out to all the talented individuals involved with this year’s windows – Bravo!
The weekend concluded with Margaret signing her latest book, Style and Substance at a cocktail party thrown by Baker Furniture. All that remains to be seen is what’s to come from Legends 2011… we aren’t giving anything away yet but we ask you all to keep an ‘artful’ eye out for what’s to come…
