In celebration of its ten-year anniversary, the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art Southern California Chapter (ICAA SCC) is hosting a three-week exhibition at Therien from October 1-18. Entitled “Idea & Manifestation,” the exhibition features commissions by 40 of Southern California’s most admired architects, designers and artists, such as William Hefner, Andrew Skurman, Marc Appleton and Suzanne Tucker. LCDQ member Renaissance Design Studio also contributed an elaborate carving to the ICAA event, and LEGENDS 2014 window designers Krista and John Everage and Paul L’Esperance and Daelen Cory also participated with unique works.

The commissions on view at Therien range from photographs to sculptures to elaborate architectural models. Architect William Hefner’s architectural model features a detailed design of a classical building and landscape. For their piece, the artisans at Renaissance Hardware created a wall sculpture of five carved panels representing the classical order with miniature Tuscan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian and Compista period capitals. Carved by hand using a magnifying glass to achieve the finest detail, the sculpture took six months to finish.

Along with these works, ICAA’s exhibition will be accompanied by a series of special events, all at Therien, including a reception and illustrated presentation with renowned architect Kevin A. Clark on October 8th and a moderated discussion with celebrated architects Marc Appleton, William Hefner and Andrew Skurman on October 16th.
