La Cienega Design Quarter 2013Harbinger’s south window designed by Thom Filicia for #LEGENDS2013.

“I wanted to take a trip back to the mid-1970’s,” says Thom Filicia of his #LEGENDS2013 window design for Harbinger, “a time when I was developing my imagination through the use of Legos, matchbox cars and toy boats.”

From his start at renowned design firms Parish-Hadley, Thom Filicia has emerged as one of today’s most influential and respected interior designers. His clients range from Tina Fey, Jennifer Lopez and Peter Jennings to those in the worlds of finance, sports and hospitality. Gaining fame on the Emmy-winning Queer Eye, Style Network and HGTV, he is a best-selling author and has been named as a “Top 100 Designer” by House Beautiful and an “A-List” designer by Elle Decor. He is also the driving force behind the Thom Filicia Home Collection. Filicia’s newest book, American Beauty: Renovating and Decorating a Beloved Retreat, is the story of a house he bought in New York’s Finger Lakes, a place he loved as a child, and patiently restored to become the house of his dreams- “one that profoundly speaks to his happy memories of lazy days spent on the lake or in the town of Skaneateles.”

A quote from the designer on this year’s #LEGENDS 2013 theme, Time Capsule: The Past, Present and Future of Design:

“The Early Years… I wanted to take a trip back to the mid-1970’s: A time when I was developing my imagination through the use of Legos, matchbox cars and toy boats. Turning my parents’ living room, sun room, or any room in our house for that matter into an imaginary landscape of roads, lakes, oceans and building lots for all of my creative projects.”
