I suppose an introduction is in order

So here goes… My name is Allan and I will be your blogger.  I’ve never blogged before, so it may take me a short while to find my voice in this unfamiliar medium, but I’m excited by the prospects.

I’ve gleaned from the blogs that I do read that they work best when there are frequent posts and reader interaction.  Therefore, I intend to post at least one blog entry a day (probably around mid-morning) and you are encouraged to make comments.  Also, I am asking you to contribute tips to provide new and interesting topics as they cross your mind.  You can email your tips to me at  If you are a shop owner or work at a shop, please let me know if anything interesting is happening at your store or in the hood, for example: upcoming sales, cool new arrivals, parties, celebrity visits, gossip, whatever.

What is the La Cienega Design Quarter?  To most, it’s probably nothing more than a square orange sign poking off the top corner of many of the fine stores on this street.  In fact, though, it’s an attempt to define an area populated by some of the finest design dealers in the world.  This blog will help to define what that means by chronicling what’s going on.  If, as the old saying goes, it’s all about “location, location, location,” the LCDQ is planting a flag as THE location in LA for design.

Much more to come…
