Enamored with the 1950s and ‘60s lifestyle, Hillary Thomas’ #LEGENDS2013 vignette at MK Collection is a window into those eras. “Design was infused with a global, sophisticated style,” she says. “It was an amazing juxtaposition of old and new that basically created an entire category of design aesthetic that I like to call ‘Vintage Chic.’ That spirit, that aesthetic was my inspiration for my window!”
Thomas is an up and coming L.A.-based interior designer with clients like Bridget Moynahan and Greg Kinnear. Inspired by a love and reverence for the past (specifically jet-setting, glam world of the 50s and 60s that Slim Aarons captured on film), her interiors are timeless and collected, yet feel refreshingly modern and chic. Taking this inspiration from the past, Thomas co-founded Chic Shop in Brentwood with Clara Hendon, bringing back products that have virtually become extinct in the design world. They are featured regularly in leading design magazines, such as House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Traditional Home and Architectural Digest Germany.
Lyrical and livable, MK Collection offers an extensive array of fine fabrics, rugs, and wallcoverings created with the poetic sensibility of designer Melissa Kirkpatrick. Taking inspiration from the worlds of fine and decorative arts, Kirkpatrick crafts her exquisite items with the highest-quality materials and in partnership with the world’s leading design fabricators. MK Collection is represented at select showrooms in the US.
