Renaissance Design Studio window designed by Tim Barber for #LEGENDS2013.

“History repeats itself – and lessons we don’t learn, we are destined to repeat. I put a favorite quotation from Franklin D. Roosevelt on the window because it was meaningful in the 1930s – and is even more relevant today,” says architect Tim Barber, who designed an elaborate series of period rooms in the window of Renaissance Design Studio for #LEGENDS2013. “My time capsule celebrates learning from our past and making wise choices for our future.”

Barber celebrates authentic details, responsible materials and the inventive use of natural light. His Los Angeles-based architectural firm is known for custom residences and renovations in vernacular architectural styles. The firm just completed a Shingle Style LEED Gold new home. Barber’s custom furniture and lighting line, Auteur Furnishings, features FSC-certified wood, zero VOC finishes and compostable fabrics. His architecture, lighting and furnishings all integrate handcrafted, durable construction with cutting-edge, sustainable technology.

Renaissance Design Studio represents the finest and most luxurious bath hardware and decorative plumbing fixtures from France, Italy, Germany and the U.S.  Renaissance is home to the world-renowned lighting and fixture company Baguès Luminaires with examples of 3 iconic Bagues chandeliers and several sconces on display in the La Cienega showroom. Other brands represented are Fantini, Baltica, Frank Allart, Dubois, Hamilton Sinkler and Edgar Berebi. Renaissance Design Studio also offers handcrafted millwork and custom-made staircases.
