What kind of design would be expected from someone who said in an interview with Apartment Therapy‘s Abigail Stone that he would put a Chaise Standard from Jean Prouve, his iPod, pencil sketches from as many 20th century masters as possible, and a copy of The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov in a Time Capsule? Exactly what was in the north window at Dragonette during Legends — timeless and sophisticated — courtesy Cliff Fong.
As an interior designer, Fong is known for creating unique, personal and often unexpected environments for clients like Ellen DeGeneres (on the cover of the May issue of Elle Decor). Although most of his projects are residential, he has designed some notable commercial spaces as well: Madison Gallery, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, and West Hollywood’s Ink restaurant. In 2009, with partners, he opened Galerie Half, an emporium of 20th century design, European antiques, architectural elements and art.
A quote from the designer on this year’s #LEGENDS 2013 theme, Time Capsule: The Past, Present and Future of Design:
“Some of the most meaningful things in this world are those that transcend their time and origin. Examples of design that qualify this are often my favorite and hopefully worth sharing and remembering.”
