Antiquarian Lee Stanton, whose celebrity clientele is hush hush except when you’re in the shop and suddenly Tom Ford walks in, or a truck arrives to pick up pieces for Oprah, recently collaborated with photographer Carlos Eric Lopez on a small stage set at the Environmental Media Association Awards, which spotlights celebrities who are active in creating solutions to environmental issues.
At the Nicole Richie-hosted the event on the back lot of Warner Bros., Jaden Smith received the Male EMA Futures Award for his investment in the sustainable water-bottle company Just Water, and Smith. Other celebrities, including James Van Der Beek, Malin Akerman, and Shiri Appleby, posed in a portrait studio furnished with vintage pieces from Lee Stanton Antiques. “I collaborated with photographer Carlos Eric Lopez, who wanted to create a set with the mood of David Fincher’s movie Fight Club,” Lee Stanton told Architectural Digest, which covered his collaboration with Lopez.
Stanton, a thirty-year collector of 17th, 18th and 19th century British and European antiques, has an eclectic shop in the heart of the La Cienega Design Quarter in Los Angeles, with a warehouse called Stash that has become a secret resource for many of the nation’s leading designers a few blocks away. He has become known as an arbiter of style and premier purveyor of fine period antiques to prominent interior decorators and discriminating clients nationwide.
